One-night-only audio installation by Nashim Gargari, presented through Nocturne, Art at Night, with live improvisations.
Nashim Gargari brings The Acoustic World of Whales to the Steele Ocean Sciences Building at Dalhousie University on Friday, October 16. It's a one-night-only audio installation presented through Nocturne, Art at Night, and it runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The installation is the main feature of the evening, and Gargari will be there in person to perform live improvisations. If you're coming for the sound, that's the part to keep in mind: it's not just a recording playing on a loop, but a live performance built around the installation.
There's more to the night than just the audio. The whole thing is part of the Beaty Centre Evening, a session that opens the Beaty Centre for Marine Biodiversity to the public. While you're there, you can walk through the centre's interactive exhibits, see live local species, and take part in hands-on activities. It's a good way to see the place when it's usually closed, and you can wander between the exhibits and the installation at your own pace.
