A night of improv comedy where the What's Up! Improv Team creates stories and scenes from audience suggestions.
The What's Up! Improv Team are taking the stage at Rox Live on Thursday, August 13, for an evening of completely unscripted comedy. It's a night where nothing is written in advance: the team builds the stories, characters and scenes on the spot, taking their starting points from audience suggestions. If you've never seen improv, that's the whole thing โ you shout out a word or a weird scenario, and they run with it from there.
They describe the show as being built around connection, spontaneity and the kind of quick-witted, improvised moments that have become their trademark, with big laughs as the aim. Because it's all made up in the room, no two nights ever end up the same. The scenes they build are entirely dependent on what the crowd brings to the table, so the energy of the audience shapes as much of the evening as the performers do.
It's a straightforward setup: the team takes a suggestion and works it out in front of you, building characters and plots as they go. The whole thing is unscripted, and the comedy comes from watching them think on their feet and lean into the spontaneity of the moment.
