Two Spontaneity Improv teams provide a night of comedy with an improvised musical and audience-driven improv.
Spontaneity Improv Co. are taking over The Bus Stop Theatre Co-operative on Friday, October 30, for a double-bill night of improvised comedy. It's a combo show, which means two different Spontaneity teams are sharing the bill rather than one group carrying the whole evening. If you've seen them before, you know the drill: nothing is scripted, and the whole thing is built on the fly.
The night is split between two distinct styles of improv. One half is an improvised musical, where the songs are made up on the spot, lyrics and melody appearing as the scene unfolds. The other half is audience-driven improv, where the suggestions come from the room and the performers build the scenes around them. Between the two, you get a full evening of comedy that changes every time they do it.
Because it's a combo show, you're getting two teams in one night. Each group brings its own energy to the stage, and since the material is improvised, the two halves will feel like different shows under one roof. The musical side leans into the songs, while the audience-driven side keeps the focus on the suggestions coming from the crowd.
