Two Spontaneity Improv teams provide a night of comedy with an improvised musical and audience-driven improv.
Spontaneity Improv Co. are taking over The Bus Stop Theatre Co-operative on Friday, September 18, for a double-bill they're calling the Spontaneity Improv Combo Show. It's a bit of a full house: two different Spontaneity Improv teams on one bill, so you get two distinct sets in a single night rather than just one group carrying the whole thing.
The two halves of the evening are quite different from each other. One is an improvised musical, where the songs and the story are made up on the spot, and the other is audience-driven improv, the kind of show that takes its cues and prompts directly from the people in the room. Between the two, you'll see the company working in two very different modes—one leaning into the musical side of things and the other built around whatever the crowd throws their way.
Because it's a combo show, the night is split between the two teams. You'll get the improvised musical from one and the audience-driven set from the other, so you're seeing two different approaches to improv in one sitting. It's a good way to see the company's range in a single evening, and since nothing is scripted, the two halves will be entirely different from one another.
