An evening of retro disco beats and roller skating with costume prizes and a photo booth; free entry.
Roller Disco on The Commons takes over the Emera Oval on Saturday, October 3, from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm. It's the first annual edition, part of the North End Business Association's first Retro Roller Disco on The Commons, and it turns the Oval into a proper roller disco with lights and live DJs. The whole North End is getting in on it, with local businesses joining in and the event presented with the support of Halifax Regional Municipality, Quinpool Road and Hard Patch.
The retro theme is a big part of the night. You're encouraged to dress up in sequins, satin, tube socks, headbands and flares, and there are prizes for the best costume. There's a photo booth on site to capture the look, so if you've got something flashy in the back of the closet, this is the time to bring it out. It's open to all ages, so it works as a family thing or just a night out with friends.

On the practical side, you'll need to bring your own skates and helmet, though a limited number of rentals are available if you're coming without gear. There's free parking on site. Entry is free, and the night runs from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm at the Emera Oval, 5775 Cogswell Street, Halifax, NS B3K 4B2.
