A pop-up night market featuring food, music, and artisanal goods in the North End of Halifax.
North by Night Market takes over The Local back patio on Friday, August 14, from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. It's a pop-up night market on Gottingen Street in the North End, and as the name suggests, it's built around a few things happening at once rather than one single act on a stage.
What you'll find there is a mix of food, music, and artisanal goods. The food side of things is a big part of it, with vendors set up for you to eat and drink while you wander. The music runs through the evening, and the artisanal goods are the market side—stalls with local makers selling their work. It's the kind of thing you can drift in and out of, grab a bite, browse a few tables, and hang out for as long as you like.
The organisers describe it as a pop-up style party with food, music, artisanal goods and North End flair. That flair comes from the location itself: Gottingen Street is one of the main arteries of the North End, and The Local is right in the thick of it. The event is held on the back patio, so it's an outdoor affair, and it runs for three hours, from 7:00pm until 10:00pm. Entry is free, so you can just show up and see what catches your eye.
