Motherhood are playing the Seahorse Tavern on Thursday, October 29, with a full bill around them. The night is presented by Morbid Entertainment and Red Tentacle, and it's a long one, running for about four and a half hours from 7:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
Motherhood are an avant-punk trio from Fredericton, New Brunswick. They've had a hard time pinning down their own sound: critics have called it art-country, circus punk, or black metal fusion, and the band has settled reluctantly on avant-punk as a catch-all. They describe their genre as illusory and their aesthetic as palpable, which is a fair way of saying they don't fit neatly into any one box. They're the main feature of the night, but they're sharing the stage with a full run of support.
Along with Motherhood, the bill includes Earth Moon Transit, Pavel Stroke, and Fishmonger. The whole thing is presented by Morbid Entertainment and Red Tentacle, and it's a marathon rather than a sprint, with music going from 7:00 PM through to 11:30 PM.
