Satirical play by Kevin Loring about land politics, legal absurdity and an unexpected romance, part of the Dalhousie Arts Centre's 'DAC Presents' series.
Little Red Warrior and His Lawyer comes to the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium on Friday, January 15, 2027, as part of the Dalhousie Arts Centre's DAC Presents series, which runs from September 2026 through March 2027.
The play is a satire by Governor General's Award-winning playwright Kevin Loring, of the Nlaka'pamux Nation, who also directed it. It centres on Little Red Warrior, the last remaining member of the Little Red Warrior First Nation, who discovers that construction has begun on his ancestral lands. From there, the story follows him and his court-appointed lawyer through a collision of land politics, legal absurdity, mischief, and an unexpected romance. Loring describes it as a wickedly funny satire about power, politics, and procreation.
It's a co-production between A Savage Society in Vancouver and the Belfry Theatre in Victoria, produced in association with NAC Indigenous Theatre in Ottawa. That means it's travelled a fair distance to get to Halifax, coming from the West Coast with the National Arts Centre's Indigenous Theatre involved.
