Better Times Comedy

Better Times Comedy is a stand-up night that runs every Thursday year-round at Good Robot Brewing Co., 2736 Robie Street in Halifax. It's a regular fixture on the city's comedy calendar, and it's picked up some local recognition along the way: The Coast named it Best Comedy Night in the Best of Halifax Awards.

The line-up changes from week to week, so you'll rarely see the same bill twice. It draws from a regular cast of Halifax comics, but it also brings in visiting names, with a rotating roster that makes room for new faces alongside the usual crowd. That mix is part of the appeal—you'll get the comics who've become staples of the night playing alongside people you might not have heard before.

There's more to the evening than just the stand-up. Before the show, the room runs a raffle with prizes from Good Robot, Strange Adventures and Taz Records. The night also leans on brewery deals, including a rotating tap special and 15% off food, drinks and retail. If you're planning to hang out for a bit, the raffle is the thing to keep in mind: the show starts at 8 PM, but you'll want to arrive before 7:30 PM to get your name in the draw.

So, if you're looking for a mid-week night out, Better Times Comedy is on every Thursday at Good Robot Brewing Co., 2736 Robie Street. The show starts at 8 PM, and you'll want to be there by 7:30 PM for the raffle.
