Stand-up comedy show at Good Robot Brewing in Halifax, featuring local and visiting comics.
Better Times Comedy is back at Good Robot Brewing on Thursday, September 3, as part of the brewery's regular Thursday-night series. It's an award-winning stand-up show that runs every Thursday at 8:00 pm, so if you miss this one, there's another coming the following week. The next show runs from 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm, and you'll find it at 2736 Robie Street in Halifax.
The night works on a rotating cast of Halifax comics and visiting acts, which keeps the line-up from getting too predictable. Among the regulars are Clare Belford, a writer on This Hour Has 22 Minutes; Dan Hendricken, known from CBC LOL and the Halifax Comedy Festival; Travis Lindsay; and Adam Myatt. Because the bill changes, you'll get a different mix of voices each time, with the local regulars alternating with whoever's passing through the city.
There's a bit more to the evening than just the comedy. The brewery runs a weekly C$6 rotating tap, and you get 15% off food, drinks and retail—though that discount doesn't apply to tickets. If you're planning to arrive early, there's a raffle for Good Robot, Strange Adventures and Taz Records gear for anyone who gets there before 7:30 pm, so it pays to show up with some time to spare before the first act takes the stage.
