Post-punk duo Young Knives perform live at Oran Mor in Glasgow.
Young Knives play Òran Mór on Friday 20 November, their Glasgow date presented by 432 Presents. They're a post-punk duo from Leicestershire, fronted by the eccentrically named bassist House of Lords.
If you're not familiar with them, they've caught the ear of some big names in the scene: Tom Vek, The Futureheads and Gang of Four are all among their fans. That puts their sound in a certain lineage — angular, bass-driven post-punk with a bit of a dancey edge, and a knack for the kind of jagged, rhythmic energy that those bands are known for. It's the sort of thing that works best in a room where you can actually feel the bass in your chest, so a Glasgow gig is a good place to hear it.
The night is straightforward: just the band on the bill, with the set built around their own material. They're touring as a duo, so it's a lean, stripped-back version of the post-punk sound, with House of Lords on bass and vocals leading the way. It's a Leicestershire act coming up to the West End, and this is the Glasgow stop of the run.
