Indie-pop band Welly performs live at The Poetry Club, part of the DF Concerts series.
Welly play The Poetry Club on Tuesday 20 October, part of the DF Concerts run. It's a single-act bill, so the whole night is theirs.
If you're not yet familiar, Welly is an indie-pop act, and they describe their own sound as a raw and authentic form of pop, one they see as a contrast to the more polished styles that dominate the charts these days. It's that distinction they lean on — the raw over the refined — that gives you a good sense of where they sit. When you hear them talk about it that way, you can imagine the kind of set they're bringing to the stage: something that keeps the edges a bit rough rather than sanding them down.
The gig is at The Poetry Club, which is inside SWG3 over at 100 Eastvale Place, G3 8QG. It's a mid-week one, on a Tuesday, so it's a bit of a different slot than the usual weekend run. If you're heading that way, it's the West End of the city, just off the main stretch of the East End.
