Indie rockers Villanelle bring their heavy riffs and swagger to King Tut's, fronted by Gene Gallagher.
Villanelle play King Tut's Wah Wah Hut on Tuesday 17 November, bringing their heavy riffs and swagger to the Glasgow stage. It's a headline slot for the indie rockers, who've spent the last couple of years stepping out from a very famous shadow and making a name on their own terms.
They made their introduction in the biggest way imaginable, playing to huge crowds as the opening band on Liam Gallagher's Definitely Maybe: 30 Years tour in 2024. The band is fronted by Liam's son, Gene Gallagher, who's been writing songs for as long as he can remember. He formed the group earlier that year with Ben Taylor on guitar, Jack Schiavo on bass and Andrew Richmond on drums. They made an instant impact following early gigs at venues like The Marquis, a rock 'n' roll pub in London, after which Liam offered them the opening slot on his tour. Since then, they've been playing their own shows, with this Glasgow date as one of them.
It's a four-piece setup — guitar, bass, drums and Gene on vocals — and the description of heavy riffs and swagger gives you a fair idea of where they sit: loud, guitar-led indie rock. If you've followed them since those early London pub gigs, this is a chance to see them as the main draw rather than the support act.
