The Wonder Stuff headline show at the Barrowland celebrating their 40th anniversary, with special guests Inspiral Carpets.
The Wonder Stuff play The Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom on Wednesday 14 October, with Inspiral Carpets as special guests. It's part of a 16-date UK tour marking the band's 40th anniversary, and it puts two indie names on one bill: The Wonder Stuff's anthemic side alongside Inspiral Carpets' Madchester groove.
The Wonder Stuff formed in Stourbridge, in the Black Country of the West Midlands. The current line-up — Miles Hunt, Malc Treece, Erica Nockalls, Mark Gemini Thwaite, Tim Sewell and Pete Howard — plays sets that reach across their career. You'll hear 'Unbearable', 'A Wish Away', 'Caught In My Shadow', 'Size of A Cow' and 'Don't Let Me Know Down, Gently'.
Their history stretches back to an early collaboration with Pop Will Eat Itself called From Eden, through a split at the 1994 Phoenix Festival, and a reformation for live tours from 2000 onwards. That run included a sell-out five-night residency at The Forum in London and the albums Escape From Rubbish Island (2004) and Suspended By Stars (2006). This Glasgow date is one of 16 on the 40th anniversary tour, so they're playing the long game here.
