The Rifles perform their 'Singles Collection' retrospective set at the West End venue Òran Mór.
The Rifles play Òran Mór on Saturday 7 November, with the night billed as an anniversary celebration. They're a London four-piece who burst onto the UK music scene in 2006 with their debut album, No Love Lost, and they've been playing for more than two decades now.
Their sound is heavy rock 'n' roll with The Clash, Dylan and The Rolling Stones as the main touchstones, and a range of influences that stretches from The Smiths to The Streets. It's sixties mod at heart but thoroughly modern, held together by sharp vocals, quick-witted songs, rolling guitars and a rhythm section with a hint of ska. Across five studio albums they've built up a following of institutional fan favourites, which they've recently gathered into Singles Collection, a retrospective homage to what they've done.
The venue is Òran Mór, a West End cultural centre and meeting place housed in a converted church, formerly Kelvinside Parish Church. Its name comes from the Gaelic òran mór, meaning 'great melody of life' or 'big song'.
