The Pretty Reckless bring their Dear God Tour to the historic Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow.
The Pretty Reckless bring their Dear God tour to the Barrowland Ballroom on Thursday 3 December, with doors opening at 19:00. It's a night that'll pull from the band's whole run, from the early records through to the new material they're touring now.
They formed in New York in 2009 around frontwoman and rhythm guitarist Taylor Momsen, who first made her name acting on Gossip Girl before the band established itself as a rock powerhouse with the 2010 debut Light Me Up. Guitarist Ben Phillips writes all their songs, and the quartet has put out five original studio albums since then. Light Me Up gave them the number one rock hit 'Make Me Wanna Die', and Going to Hell followed with 'Heaven Knows', which sat atop the rock charts for 18 weeks. Later came Who You Selling For and Death by Rock and Roll. Along the way, they became the first female-fronted band to score seven number-one singles on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, blending hard rock with grunge and blues.
After touring with Soundgarden, they returned in 2020 and are now entering a punk-driven new era. The single 'When I Wake Up' set the tone, and the album Dear God follows, with its lead track 'For I Am Death' becoming their eighth rock radio number one. The Barrowland Ballroom, which opened in 1934, holds 1,900, so it's a decent-sized room for a band that's built its reputation on the live stage.
