The Poozies bring their Trad-Punk and Scottish folk sound to King Tuts, featuring Mary Macmaster, Eilidh Shaw, Sarah McFadyen and Michael Bryan.
The Poozies play King Tut's Wah Wah Hut on Sunday 25 October, part of a run of Scottish dates they've lined up for 2026. They're bringing their take on Scottish folk to the city centre, and they'll be playing new music alongside the older stuff.
If you're not familiar, they've been around for about 35 years, carving out a space for women's folk in a scene that's historically been dominated by men. They describe their own sound as 'Trad-Punk', and that gives you a fair idea of where they sit — rooted in tradition but played with a certain energy and a willingness to push it. The core of that sound comes from founding member Mary Macmaster's electro-harp, with Eilidh Shaw and Sarah McFadyen on twin fiddles. Guitarist Michael Bryan joined the fold in 2023, and rhythm maestro Donald Hay later became a full-time member. Together they've built a reputation for what they call 'cosmic shape-shifting', shifting gears across a set rather than sticking to one mood.
This particular show is one of several Scottish dates they've announced for the year, and the set will draw on new music they're continuing to work with. It's a good chance to hear them in a room that suits their size — not too big, not too small, with the music right at the front. The line-up on the night is Mary Macmaster, Eilidh Shaw, Sarah McFadyen and Michael Bryan, often joined by percussionist Donald Hay.

It's a Sunday night, so it's a bit of a different slot than the usual Friday or Saturday gig. The show starts at 7.30pm at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, 272a St Vincent Street, Glasgow City Centre G2 5RL.
