The Meltdown bring a blend of Stax and Motown soul with the soaring voice of Simon Burke, as part of their Better Days 10th Anniversary Tour.
The Meltdown play Òran Mór on Thursday 12 November, part of their Better Days 10th Anniversary Tour. It's a southern soul set rooted in the Memphis tradition, blending Stax and Motown with Nashville songwriting, all held together by Simon Burke's soaring voice. The band formed in Melbourne and signed to Hopestreet Recordings in 2015, releasing Better Days as a 45 before their self-titled debut album in 2017, which won critical acclaim.
They emerged alongside other Australian soul acts like The Teskey Brothers and The Bamboos, and have built their reputation on hypnotic grooves, graceful horns and heartfelt melodies, as well as live performances and festival appearances. The Glasgow date is one of the stops on the Better Days 10th Anniversary Tour, so the set will be built around that early material.
