A live band tribute to Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong performing their iconic songs in an intimate setting at BAaD.
The Jazz Room: A Frank Sinatra & Louis Armstrong Tribute comes to Barras Art & Design Centre on Saturday 24 October, with two shows on the one night. It's a live band paying homage to two of the most influential musicians of all time, Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong, their songbooks reimagined in an intimate setting.
The set leans on their most iconic recordings, the kind of music that defined eras and continues to fill rooms long after the original artists stopped singing them. You'll hear Sinatra's Fly Me To The Moon and My Way, and Armstrong's What a Wonderful World and When You're Smiling — the big ones that most people recognise immediately, played through to the end by a full band rather than as snippets. It's a night built around the Great American Songbook, with the two voices that helped make it what it is.
That songbook is the common thread here. Sinatra and Armstrong occupied different ends of the jazz and pop world, but they both worked from the same pool of standards, and this tribute brings them together on one stage. The live band handles the arrangements, so you get the full sound of the room rather than a stripped-back version. It's a straightforward evening of music: the songs you know, played live, in a room where you can actually hear them.

The venue is BAaD, the Barras Art & Design Centre in Glasgow's East End, at 54 Calton Entry, G40 2SB. It's known for its raw, industrial character, which suits the stripped-back, room-filling sound of a live band. There are two shows on the night, one at 6:00pm and another at 8:00pm, so you can pick the time that works best for you. Tickets are £24.50 per show.
