The 2006 Christmas romcom 'The Holiday' shown live in concert with a full concert orchestra playing the score on an HD cinema screen.
The Holiday in Concert comes to the SEC Armadillo on Wednesday 25 November, bringing the 2006 Christmas romcom The Holiday to the big screen with a full concert orchestra playing the score live. The film runs on an HD cinema-size screen, so you're watching the whole thing as it was made, but with the music performed right there in the room rather than coming from the speakers.
That score was written by Hans Zimmer, a multiple Academy Award and Golden Globe winner, and the film itself was written, directed and produced by Nancy Meyers. It stars Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black. The story follows two women who meet online and impulsively swap homes for the holidays: Iris moves into Amanda's house in sunny California, while Amanda arrives in the snow-covered English countryside, and both find a new romance along the way.
The Glasgow date is part of an 18-date UK-wide tour running through November and December, which has become a firm favourite with families and music and movie lovers. Critics have called it 'a magical way to watch a Christmas movie' and 'a stroke of genius'.
