The Almighty return to the Barrowlands for their annual St Andrew's Day show, marking the 35th anniversary of Soul Destruction, with The Claytown Troupe as special guests.
The Almighty are back at The Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom on Monday 30 November, their annual St Andrew's Day show. It's their only headline gig of the year, and this one marks the 35th anniversary of Soul Destruction, which they'll play in full. Joining them as special guests are The Claytown Troupe, whom the band describe as old friends.
For those who've followed them, the Glasgow connection goes back to the start. The Almighty are a Scottish hard rock and heavy metal band formed here in 1988, when schoolmates Ricky Warwick, Stumpy Monroe and Floyd London got together. Their sound grew out of punk, shifted towards a heavier metal direction in the early years and eventually circled back to those punk roots on later albums, leaving behind seven studio albums, two anthologies and a live record.
It's been a long road since then. After splitting in 1996, they reunited from 1999 to 2002 and again from 2006 to 2009, before reforming for a third time in 2023, more than three decades after their first break-up. Those 2023 comeback shows sold out, leading to further dates in 2024, 2025 and 2026. The Barrowland date has since become their annual St Andrew's Day show, and this year's is built around Soul Destruction — the record they're playing from start to finish.
