Contemporary Gaelic folk music from the Isle of Skye, performed by the duo Thasgaidh at The Poetry Club.
Thasgaidh play The Poetry Club on Thursday 15 October, their first time playing in Glasgow. The duo is made up of Ciorstaidh Beaton and Lana Pheutan, both from the Isle of Skye, and the music they're bringing with them comes straight from that part of the world.
They describe themselves as a Gaelic folk duo, and their work draws on the Gàidhlig language and heritage they grew up with. It's not a strictly traditional set, though — they blend those roots with a contemporary edge, and the show is billed as high-energy. If you're not familiar with Gàidhlig, it's the Scottish Gaelic language, and it's right at the centre of what they do.
The Poetry Club is on the ground floor of the SWG3 complex in the West End, at 100 Eastvale Place. It's about a ten-minute walk from Partick Interchange, so it's easy to get to if you're coming in from the city or from the west. There's an accessible toilet and a bar on site.
