An intimate dining experience honouring the surrounding Calton community with food, wine and local anecdotes, inspired by the spirit of The Calton.
Taste of the Calton returns to Barras Art and Design Centre on Friday 23 October, from 6.30pm to 10pm. It's a dining experience run by BAaD that first launched in 2025, built around the spirit of the Calton community in Glasgow's East End.
The evening is structured as a tasting menu, with each course crafted to reflect the area's culinary heritage. They work with seasonal, local produce and bold Scottish flavours given a modern twist, served up with the kind of warm hospitality and community spirit the venue is known for. The original concept sat around a single long, lively table, with a master waiter sharing stories and banter throughout the night while a DJ set the tone. This edition is the XL version, which expands that idea with more seats and more atmosphere without losing the community focus. It's presented as an evening of flavour, stories and community, rather than just a meal.
