London alt-rockers Saint Clair bring their indie rock sound to McChuills Bar.
Saint Clair play McChuills Music Bar & Venue on Tuesday 20 October, with the show running from 19:00 to 22:30. They're a four-piece from London, one of the city's newest alternative outfits, and they've built their sound around the space between shoegaze and alt-rock. It's the kind of music that sits somewhere between the two: the wash of sound and texture you'd expect from shoegaze, but with the structure and drive of a proper rock band.
They describe their songs as being written for the stage, crafted to hold a room rather than just to be heard on a record. The sound is built on moody guitars and introspective lyrics, and they talk about a no-frills approach that sees them leave it all on stage. It's a description that points more to the live performance than the studio—the sort of thing that works best when you're actually there to see it.
The show is presented by DF Concerts at McChuills, a Glasgow institution that's more than just a pub. Over the last few decades, it's been a place where live music was valued, where bands and musicians were given a platform, and where you didn't have to pay to play or fit in with whatever happened to be popular at the time. It's a venue that has kept its focus on the music, and this is one of the nights they're putting on.

Saint Clair will be the sole act on the bill, so the whole set belongs to them. The night runs from 19:00 to 22:30, and it's an 18+ event, so you'll need to be of age to get in. McChuills is at 80 High Street in Glasgow City Centre, G1 1NL.
