The Denton Deviants, Scotland's only active Rocky Horror shadowcast, bring the cult film experience to the historic Britannia Panopticon Music Hall.
The Denton Deviants bring The Rocky Horror Picture Show to The Britannia Panopticon Music Hall on Friday 16 October, 7pm. They're a shadowcast, which means they perform the movie live in front of the screen, acting out the scenes as the film plays behind them. The story is one you likely know: Brad and Janet's flat tyre on a stormy night lands them seeking shelter in the castle of Frank-N-Furter, an eccentric transvestite. The Deviants bill themselves as Scotland's only active shadowcast, and the only one currently running in the UK.
Audience participation is the engine of the whole thing. Dressing up and callbacks are highly encouraged, and you can buy goody bags at the door to help you keep up with the tradition. It's the kind of night where you're meant to be part of the show rather than just watching it. The setting adds its own weight, too: the group brings the 'Time Warp' to the Britannia Panopticon, the world's oldest surviving music hall, which sits at 113-117 Trongate in the city centre.

The night is run by TimeWarp, the official UK fan club of The Rocky Horror Show and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. They make a point of distinguishing between the stage show and the film screenings, and they note that the film's UK cinema certificate is 12A. Tickets are £10, and the show starts at 7pm on Friday 16 October at the Britannia Panopticon Music Hall, G1 5HD.
