Republica's 30th anniversary live music gig, 30 Years of Ready To Go, at Oran Mor, with The Gulps.
Republica are playing Òran Mór on Saturday 21 November, their 30 Years of Ready To Go show. It's a bit of a milestone night, marking three decades since the track that gave the tour its name first hit the charts. They're fronted by Saffron, and they'll be joined on the bill by The Gulps.
If you're wondering where the sound comes from, Republica rode the Britpop wave of the nineties with what they called a 'techno-pop, punk rock' sound — a blend of techno, punk and rock that kept things relentlessly energetic. Between 1996 and 1999, they sold three million albums and landed Top 5 slots in the UK, America and Europe, with 'Ready to Go' reaching number one in several countries. That track, along with 'Drop Dead Gorgeous', has since appeared in more than 300 films and adverts, including Wes Craven's Scream and Captain Marvel.
They exploded back in 2013 with a new EP, a UK tour and festival slots, and Saffron has collaborated with the likes of The Prodigy, The Cure, Junkie XL, Gary Numan, Jeff Beck, Carl Cox and Jah Wobble. This show is for ages 14+, with under-16s needing an adult.
