A showcase of new works developed by students on the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland's Composition course.
RCS Composers Lab is on at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on Thursday 22 October, a showcase of new music coming straight from the Conservatoire's own composition course. The evening is built around work developed by students throughout their studies, so what you'll hear is new material being played out in public for the first time.
That's the core of it: the Lab is a platform for the students on the course to get their writing off the page and in front of an audience. Rather than a retrospective of things they've already finished, it's a look at what they've been working on as they move through their studies. Because it's a showcase of several different composers, you'll get a range of voices in one sitting rather than a single perspective.
The evening is part of the Conservatoire's wider 'What's On' programme, which puts on more than 500 performances a year across five venues in the heart of Glasgow city centre. It's one of those nights that sits within a much larger calendar, so it's easy to slot in if you're already around the city.
