A celebration with European beers, award-winning Scottish breweries, food specials and traditional music at the Barras Art and Design Centre.
Oktoberfest comes to the Barras Art and Design Centre on Saturday 17 October, running from 11am to 10pm. It's part of the East End's most diverse beer festival, which BAaD stages under one roof, pairing some of Europe's best beers with award-winning Scottish breweries. More than 15 breweries are represented, so you can work your way through the imports and the local stuff in one go. Along with the beer, there's food specials and a traditional Oompa band, with some of Glasgow's best music talent filling out the rest of the day.
The venue itself is a good part of the draw. Barras Art and Design Centre is a venue, studio, retail space and creative hub in the heart of the Barras Market, described as a unique building with a spectacular covered courtyard and a glazed roof held up by pink steel arches. Inside you'll find a tropical courtyard, a floating restaurant and a sun-trapped container yard. If you're in the mood for more, the nearby Calton Taproom adds to the neighbourhood's craft beer offering with more than 20 taps of local brews.
