New Zealand indie outfit No Cigar headline their most ambitious tour yet at King Tut's, supported by Frank On Tap.
No Cigar play King Tut's Wah Wah Hut on Saturday 21 November, their first Glasgow date in a while. They're a five-piece from Auckland, New Zealand, and this is part of their biggest tour yet — a run across mainland Europe and the UK throughout October and November, following a string of sold-out shows across Australasia. They're supported on the night by Frank On Tap.
If you're not familiar, they've put out three studio albums in four years: Bienvenido in 2022, The Great Escape in 2023, and Under The Surface in 2025. That latest one has a bit of a story to it — much of it was written and recorded in Chantilly, north of Paris, while the band were touring Europe in 2023, and then finished back home with producer Connor Jaine. It's the record they're touring now, so it'll be the main focus of the set.
Their sound sits at the psychedelic end of indie rock, with a fair bit of groove running through it. The line-up is Willy Ferrier on lead vocals, Josh Morrice-Scott and Arthur Gillies on guitars, Sam Benson on bass, and Ned Gow on drums. They've built a reputation for high-intensity live shows, and they've got a loyal following that stretches well beyond New Zealand. The press has been mixed, to say the least — in 2024, critic L. Gallagher summed them up as 'worse than Oasis, better than Blur'.
