East London singer-songwriter Nectar Woode brings her unique blend of neo-soul, folk, jazz and gospel to a headline show at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut.
Nectar Woode headlines King Tut's Wah Wah Hut on Wednesday 14 October, bringing her mix of jazz and neo-soul to the Glasgow stage. It's a headline show, so she'll be the only name on the bill that night.
Woode is an East London-based singer and songwriter. Her sound blends neo-soul, folk, jazz and gospel, and it's built around a rich, wistful tone and jazz-influenced guitar chords that create a dreamy listening experience. She was born to Ghanaian-British parents and raised in Milton Keynes, and she draws on the joyful musical roots of her Ghanaian heritage alongside the raw storytelling of artists like Lauryn Hill. Her music frequently explores heritage and identity, and she's been compared to Nina Simone and Elton John.
She's built a following in the UK's independent soul and jazz community, hosting a monthly show for Women in Jazz on Soho Radio and gathering more than 815,000 monthly Spotify listeners. She's also drawn coverage from CLASH and DIY and was named a playlist cover for Spotify's RADAR: UK & IRELAND.
