A cosy morning of local creativity with handmade art, crafts, gifts and a curated second-hand rail of vintage and one-of-one finds.
The Mini Makers Market is taking over The Stand Comedy Club on Saturday 24 October, from 10:30am to 1:30pm. It's a morning of local creativity in the West End, with artists, makers and small businesses setting up stalls of handmade art, crafts and gifts. Alongside the new stuff, there's a curated second-hand rail of vintage and one-of-one finds, so you can pick up something brand new and something with a bit of history in the same go.
It's aimed at shoppers looking for something unique and at supporting local talent in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere open to all. If you're thinking of getting involved yourself, stallholders have to apply in advance to take part.
The venue is The Stand Comedy Club, at 420 Great Western Road, G4 9HZ. It opened on Great Western Road in 1995 and now runs three purpose-built rooms across Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle. What started as a hobby by a group of enthusiasts grew into a successful commercial company that's stayed true to its roots in developing new Scottish comedy, with a programme that includes the Red Raw beginners' nights, improvised comedy, sketch shows and solo hours from better-known names. The club draws over 100,000 people a year and is regarded by performers and critics alike as one of the best comedy venues in the world.
