Mercury Rev return to The Classic Grand celebrating 25 years of their album All Is Dream.
Mercury Rev are back at The Classic Grand on Thursday 15 October, their first Glasgow date in a while. The night is built around a specific anniversary: they're celebrating 25 years of All Is Dream, the record that shifted them from the noisy, chaotic sound of their early years into something more open and melodic. It's the album that brought them to a wider audience, and that's the one they're centering the show on.
If you're coming for that particular record, it's a good place to start. All Is Dream is the one most people know them from, and it's the one that defined their later sound. The set will be built around those songs, so you'll hear the material from that era front and centre. It's a full-band show, with the band playing as a whole rather than a stripped-back version, so the songs will have the same weight they did on the record.
It's a Glasgow return for them, too. They've played the city before, and The Classic Grand is a familiar spot for a lot of the music that comes through the centre. The venue is on Jamaica Street, right in the city centre, so it's easy to get to from anywhere in town. The show starts at 7pm, and the focus stays on the music, with the band taking the stage as the main feature of the night.
