Krystal Evans brings her Glasgow Comedy Festival show about marriage, money and being broke at Gael & Grain.
Krystal Evans brings her new show, Flower Girl, to Gael & Grain on Saturday 13 March, as part of the Glasgow International Comedy Festival. The (WIP) in the title is a fair warning: this is a work in progress, and you're seeing it while it's still being shaped.
Evans is working through marriage and divorce, and the particular shift of having a lot of money and then being dead broke. She's described the show as something that will eventually be raw, sexually explicit and humiliating, as she tries to make hard things funny. It's the kind of material that doesn't hide the rough edges, and since it's a work in progress, you'll be in the room while she figures out exactly where the laughs land.
Critics have praised her dry, biting wit, forged in fire, and called her a comic on the cusp of breaking into the mainstream. If you've caught her before, you'll know the tone she's working with hereโsharp, unsentimental, and not afraid to go to the uncomfortable places. Flower Girl is her taking that voice and applying it to the mess of marriage and money.
