Student-led keyboard performance sessions curated by the Keyboard Department at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, celebrating collaborations across the conservatoire.
Keyboard Sessions return to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on Thursday 3 December, with the session taking place in the Ledger Room. It's one of the Conservatoire's student-led performance series, and this one is curated by students from the Keyboard Department.
That's the core of it: the students are the ones calling the shots. They put the programme together and run the whole thing, so it's their night to shape. The series is built around celebrating collaborations across the Conservatoire, and that's where the variety comes from. Rather than just keyboard recitals, you'll hear students from different departments coming together to play, which means the music pulls from across the building rather than staying within one room. It's a good way to hear what's actually happening inside the place, rather than just the polished results that usually make it to the main stage.
Over time, the series has grown into a following of its own, and the Ledger Room has become its regular home in the city centre. It's a space that's come to be associated with these sessions, so if you've been to one before, you'll know the setup. The session is part of a wider run of student-led performances the Conservatoire puts on, and this one is the Keyboard Department's turn to take the lead.
