Cardiff garage rockers bring their electric live show to The Classic Grand.
James & the Cold Gun play The Classic Grand on Thursday 26 November, their first Glasgow date since their debut. They're a Cardiff band, built around the duo of James Joseph and James Biss, and they describe their sound as a gritty, raw blend of garage rock, grunge and modern alternative soundscapes.
They first got noticed when Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam heard their tracks on KEXP radio and signed them to Loosegroove Records. That connection led to a run of high-profile support slots with Pearl Jam, Guns N' Roses and Duff McKagan, and their self-titled debut album came out in 2023. Since then, they've expanded their palette with a second record, Face in the Mirror, which they produced alongside Brendan O'Brien.
With two albums behind them now, the set should draw from both. The debut carries that raw, garage-rock energy they started with, while Face in the Mirror marks a shift in their sound. Between the two, they've got enough material to build a full night around, and the live show is where the grit they talk about usually comes through.
