Gothic art-punk band HMLTD perform live at Nice n' Sleazy, known for their elaborate theatrical set designs and avant-garde performances.
HMLTD play Nice n' Sleazy on Monday 8 March, their first Glasgow date since their last album. They're touring FANGS, their third record, which came out on 23 October 2026. It's a total reinvention of the goth genre through post-internet electronic and doomscroll-era dance music, part of a new era the band calls 'Götherdammerüng' — Wagner's 'Twilight of the Gods' made Goth. It returns them to their origins of violent, genre-pushing experimentation and avant-garde provocation, following 2023's rock opera The Worm. They describe their sound as a collision of New Romanticism, industrial rock and pop.
Their live shows have earned a cult reputation for going beyond the ordinary gig, with elaborate set design, costume, actors and performance artists. For their 2022 show at Heaven, they built a fictional totalitarian state called 'The Order' inside the venue, complete with an alternate-reality game based on the Stanford Prison Experiment. Singer Henry Spychalski says these experiments serve a wider point: 'Imagination is a radical political and spiritual act.'
