The 25th Anniversary of Maximum Rockgrass finale by Hayseed Dixie.
Hayseed Dixie are playing Òran Mór on Saturday 31 October, and it's a bit more than just another gig. The night is titled Killing & Hell, and it serves as the finale to the 25th anniversary of Maximum Rockgrass.
If you're not familiar with the record, Maximum Rockgrass is the one that put them on the map, and this is the final stop of the anniversary run. It's the band's own brand of rockgrass — bluegrass played with the volume and attitude of a rock band — and they've spent the last few months working their way through it. This being the finale, it's the last chance to catch the anniversary set before they move on to whatever comes next.
It's a Saturday night in Glasgow, and the date falls on Halloween, so the title Killing & Hell fits the calendar as much as the music. If you've followed them for a while, you know the sound: banjos and fiddles pushed through loud amps, fast tempos, and that particular blend of country roots and rock energy they've built their name on. This show brings the anniversary tour to a close, so it's the final date of the run.
