American alternative pop duo bring their theatrical, 80s-inspired blend of synth-pop, dark wave and glam pop to King Tut's Wah Wah Hut.
Haute & Freddy play King Tut's Wah Wah Hut on Sunday 15 November, bringing their American alternative pop to Glasgow. It's a duo from Los Angeles, vocalist Michelle Buzz and percussionist Lance Shipp, and they're playing a theatrical show.
Before they teamed up, both were working as pop songwriters. Shipp has written and produced for Britney Spears and Calvin Harris, while Buzz has penned hits for Katy Perry and Kylie Minogue. They've since stepped away from the mainstream, building an elaborate fictional universe around their music — an '80s-inspired blend of synth-pop, dark wave and glam pop that draws comparisons to Chappell Roan and Kate Bush.
They describe their sound as distinctly mid-80s Britain, filled with the ghosts of West End Girls' wavy synths, Smalltown Boy's winding bass and Erasure's soaring crescendos. It's that specific synth-pop era they're leaning into, and they're bringing the whole theatrical production to Glasgow.
