Triple-headliner line-up with NWoBHM legends Girlschool and Raven, plus US mates Alcatrazz, part of the 'WINTER METAL MELTDOWN' tour.
Girlschool, Raven and Alcatrazz share a bill at The Classic Grand on Wednesday 25 November, three classic metal bands on one Glasgow stage. Girlschool and Raven both come from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, and the night is part of the 'WINTER METAL MELTDOWN' tour.
Girlschool formed in 1975 out of a school band called Painted Lady and are billed as the longest-running all-female rock band, still active after nearly 40 years. They had their biggest run of media exposure and commercial success in the UK during the early 1980s, when they put out three albums of punk-tinged metal and several singles. Their name is often linked to contemporaries like Motörhead. Despite line-up changes over the decades, original members Kim McAuliffe and Denise Dufort and long-time member Jackie Chambers are still there. The current line-up is Kim McAuliffe on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Jackie Chambers on lead guitar and backing vocals, Tracey Lamb on bass and backing vocals, and Denise Dufort on drums.
Raven are fellow NWoBHM veterans, and Alcatrazz join them from across the Atlantic. The three together make for a rare triple-headliner line-up of this era of metal. It's a 14+ show, so it's one of those nights you can bring younger fans along to.
