Stand-up comedy show by Gary Faulds about his hilarious midlife crisis, featuring gut-busting stories and sharp wit.
Gary Faulds brings Panic At The Midlife Disco to the SEC Armadillo on Saturday 17 October, a night that puts the midlife crisis front and centre. Faulds is a Glaswegian comedian who, as the show notes put it, has 'survived every type of life crisis imaginable', and this one is built around the particular chaos of hitting middle age.
The set is a meltdown in slow motion. As his kids get older and the reality of mortality draws closer, Faulds works through the things that start to grate: his attempts to stay 'cool' with the kids, a rapidly growing waistline and a crumbling sense of youth. It's a brutally honest look at the gap between who you think you are and who you're actually becoming, told with the kind of sharp wit that makes it easier to laugh at your own decline. The show promises gut-busting stories and a good deal of self-deprecation, all centred on the struggle of growing up, getting old and trying to keep it together when the wheels are coming off.
Faulds has been active on the UK comedy circuits for several years, known for an observational style that draws on the everyday situations we all recognise. He regularly tours mid-size venues across the country, and this Glasgow date is part of the Scottish Event Campus programme. If you've seen him before, you'll know he doesn't shy away from the awkward bits of domestic life, and Panic At The Midlife Disco keeps that same direct, conversational energy.
