A one-off spectacular finale of The Royal National Mòd with Scottish trad music legends, closing Mòd Ghlasgu 2026.
Gael Force 10 takes over The Barrowland Ballroom on Friday 16 October, the closing night of Mòd Ghlaschu 2026. It's the finale of The Royal National Mòd, the main festival of Gaelic language, music and culture and the largest celebration of its kind in the world. The night is staged as a one-off west coast cèilidh in the Barrowlands, and the setting fits the city's Gaelic heritage: Glasgow is known as Baile Mòr nan Gà idheal, the City of the Gaels.
Gary Innes, who's been at the forefront of accordion music for decades, sold out his first Barrowlands gig in 2015 and marks ten years at the helm of Take the Floor by bringing together some of the best-known names in Scottish Gaelic and traditional music on one stage. The line-up draws from several well-known bands: Gary Innes, Ewen Henderson and Kim Carnie from MĂ nran; Robert Robertson and Ross Wilson from Tidelines; Angus MacPhail, Andrew Stevenson and Archie McAllister from Skipinnish; Daniel and Martin Gillespie from Skerryvore; and Ian Smith from Trail West. Karen Matheson and Donald Shaw from Capercaillie are there too, along with Ruairidh Gray, Marie Fielding, Jennifer Cruickshank, Rory Matheson, John 'Iky' Carmichael, Alasdair McCuish, Fraser MacInnes and Glasgow Mela with Eadarainn and DlĂą.
The whole thing was commissioned by the Local Organising Committee of Mòd Ghlaschu and brought together with Innes' help. It's a one-off, so it's not a touring show you'll catch elsewhere. The night is for ages 14 and over.
