Dave East

Dave East plays Stereo on Friday 16 October, with doors opening at 18:00 and the show starting at 19:00. It's a solo bill, so he's the only name on the poster for the night.

If you're not familiar, East is a Harlem MC who's built his name on a gritty, lyric-heavy style. It's the kind of rap that looks back to '90s New York hardcore—heavy on the bars and the storytelling—but still fits in with what's coming out of the hip-hop scene now. He spent the early 2010s putting out a string of independent mixtapes before catching the eye of his favourite rapper, who signed him and helped push him into the wider spotlight.

Since then, he's put out a fair bit of material. There's the Billboard-charting Kairi Chanel from 2016, Paranoia: A True Story in 2017, and the 2020 top-40 hit 'Karma 3'. He's also stepped into acting, playing himself on the Hulu series Wu-Tang Clan: An American Saga, and he had the iconic rapper guest on his 2022 release HDIGH. His second studio album, Fortune Favors the Bold, came out in 2023, and he worked with producer Scram Jones on the 2024 release For the Love.

The Glasgow show is presented by 432, and it's for over-18s only. Tickets start from £28.90.
