Grammy-nominated blues, soul and R&B singer Danielle Nicole presents her personal new album Fireflies at Oran Mor.
Danielle Nicole plays Òran Mór on Friday 19 February, as part of her UK tour for the new album Fireflies. She's a Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and bassist, and a former member of Trampled Under Foot, now one of the most respected names on the blues scene. Her career goes back nearly 25 years, with ten Blues Music Awards and inductions into both the Kansas and South Canada Blues Halls of Fame.
Fireflies is her most personal record to date. It was produced by Tony Braunagel and recorded live to analogue tape in her hometown of Kansas City during a profoundly emotional chapter following the death of her brother Kris, her lifelong friend, bandmate and collaborator. The album pushes her modern roots sound further into classic soul, R&B and Americana while staying grounded in the blues tradition that launched her career, and it features the singles 'Gaslight' and 'Tug of War'.
Nicole traces her musical journey back to seeing Etta James perform live in Kansas City as a teenager, and that influence still runs through her work. The tour is built around Fireflies, so the set will lean on the new material, which she describes as her most personal writing yet.
