Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett performs live at the historic Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow, with support from Body Type.
Courtney Barnett plays The Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom on Tuesday 13 October, her only Glasgow date of the tour. It's a headline show, and it's already sold out, so if you're looking for tickets you'll be hunting for returns rather than buying from the box office.
Barnett is an Australian singer-songwriter who's built her following by folding elements of country and anti-folk into her songwriting, and she's now regarded as one of the brightest singer-songwriters of her generation. That anti-folk side comes through in the way she writes — conversational, observational, and often quite dry — while the country influence shows up in the melodic leanings and the way she carries a tune. It's a combination that puts her in a league of her own, and hearing it live is the best way to get a feel for how it all fits together.
She's not taking the stage alone, either. Support comes from Body Type, so there's a full night of music rather than just one set. The whole thing kicks off at 7:00 PM, and with the Barrowlands being a sold-out house, it'll be a full room for her.
