A string quartet performs a selection of The Beatles songs in the historic Merchants House of Glasgow under candlelight.
Candlelight brings a tribute to The Beatles to The Merchants House of Glasgow on Sunday 15 November, with a string quartet taking on the songs under the glow of candlelight. The set is a run through the Beatles' catalogue, with a tentative programme that covers the early years and the later, more experimental stuff: 'I Want To Hold Your Hand', 'Penny Lane', 'Strawberry Fields Forever', 'Come Together', 'Here Comes the Sun', 'With A Little Help From My Friends', 'Help!', 'Eleanor Rigby', 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps', 'Helter Skelter', 'Blackbird', 'A Day in the Life', 'Yesterday', 'Let It Be' and 'Hey Jude'.
It's a string quartet playing them, so the arrangements will be for strings rather than the original band. The venue is The Merchants House of Glasgow, 7 West George Street, G2 1BA, a Victorian building that opened in 1874 and still has its ornate ceilings, stained-glass windows and a sweeping marble staircase. The show runs for 60 minutes, and it's a tribute concert, not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by The Beatles or their estate.
