A candlelight tribute concert bringing the music of Queen and ABBA to the historic Merchants House of Glasgow, performed by The Quartet Scotland.
Candlelight: Queen vs. ABBA comes to The Merchants House of Glasgow on Saturday 7 November, with the music of the two bands played back-to-back under candlelight. It's a tribute concert, not a show by the original artists, and it's part of a series of dates running through early 2027.
On the 7 November, The Quartet Scotland takes the stage. They'll run through ABBA's 'Dancing Queen', 'SOS', 'Money, Money, Money' and 'Voulez Vous', and then switch over to Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'I Want to Break Free', 'Killer Queen', 'Don't Stop Me Now', 'We Will Rock You' and 'We Are the Champions'. The whole thing lasts an hour. If you can't make that one, there's another date on 22 November with the Belford String Quartet stepping in, and further shows on 10 December, 23 January and 26 February.
The venue is The Merchants House of Glasgow at 7 West George Street, a Victorian building that opened in 1874. It holds 200 people, so it's a small room with ornate ceilings, stained-glass windows and a marble staircase. The Candlelight format is a live, multi-sensory experience that takes the music of a composer or a band into a location like this and plays it by candlelight.
