Tribute band to Paul Weller performing music from The Jam, The Style Council and his solo career.
Absolute Weller play McChuills Music Bar & Venue on Friday 6 November, from 20:00 to 23:00. They're a tribute to Paul Weller, the Modfather himself, and the set runs through the three distinct chapters of his career: the sharp, punchy sound of The Jam, the sophisticated pop of The Style Council, and his long solo run. They describe the night as playing pretty much every banger from his career, with only a few rare cuts thrown in, so it's a good one if you've followed him across the decades rather than just sticking to one era.
McChuills is hosting the night, and it's a venue with a bit of history behind it. It opened on Glasgow's High Street in 1993 and has grown from a pub into a community hub and live-music venue that's long given bands a platform where you didn't have to pay to play. It's more than just a place for one-off gigs, too: they run their own 'New Wave' band night, a 'Sunday Soundclash', and an open mic, so it's a spot that keeps a regular live-music programme going throughout the week. All events at the venue are 18+.
