Kids' driving session in which children aged 5 to 10 take the wheel of a two-seater Firefly Sport electric car under parental supervision.
The Young Driver Firefly Driving Experience is in Edinburgh on Tuesday 27 October, a kids' driving session for children aged 5 to 10. It's a scaled-down version of the real thing: your child takes the wheel of a custom two-seater Firefly Sport electric car, a genuine little machine with independent suspension, rack and pinion steering, twin electric motors and a tablet-based dashboard. It reaches speeds of up to 10mph, so it's fast enough to feel like driving without being anything to worry about.
The session is built to feel like driving on a busy road, and it covers the basics: steering, navigating junctions and reversing. It's not just a few laps around a track; there's a proper sequence to it, so they're actually working through the fundamentals of how a car moves. Safety is the priority here: patented systems bring the car to a controlled stop if needed, and parents hold a remote cut-off switch, so you're in control the whole time. A parent or guardian has to attend with the child, and the experience runs at 28 locations across the UK.

The whole thing takes about an hour, with 15 minutes of actual driving time. It's also sold as a gift voucher, which gives you 12 months to book a date that suits you, so if the 27th doesn't work, you can still grab it as a present and sort the timing later. The session costs £22.
