Themed wine tasting evening of the Edinburgh Local Wine School's 'World of Wine' series exploring wines from Spain and Portugal.
World of Wine is focusing on Spain and Portugal at the Novotel Edinburgh Centre on Wednesday 4 November, starting at 7:00pm. It's a tasting session run by the Edinburgh Local Wine School, and as the name suggests, the whole evening is built around wines from across the Iberian Peninsula.
The night is part of the school's flagship World of Wine series, which takes a different wine country each week. Over the course of the full series, they work their way through more than 50 wines from 40 different regions, so this particular session is one piece of a much larger map. If you're not looking for a full course, the school also runs themed tasting evenings and masterclasses by country, region or grape variety, alongside a 4-Week Beginners Wine Course and an 8-Week World of Wine Adventure. They're also a leading provider of WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) courses, the international standard in wine and spirit education, so there's a fair bit of structure behind the tasting rather than just pouring glasses.
The venue is the Novotel Edinburgh Centre at 80 Lauriston Place, EH3 9DE, which is a short walk from Edinburgh Castle. The tastings take place in a bright, private dining area, so it's a dedicated space rather than a shared room. It's a mid-week one, which works if you're after something to do on a Wednesday night in the city centre.
