Wine tasting session by Edinburgh Local Wine School exploring the wines of Bordeaux and southern France.
World of Wine - Bordeaux and Southern France comes to the Novotel Edinburgh Centre on Wednesday 27 January 2027, a two-hour tasting run by Edinburgh Local Wine School. It's split into two halves, each focusing on a different part of the French wine map.
The first half is all about Bordeaux, where you'll work through the region's big names: Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot on the red side, and Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon for the whites. From there, the second half shifts south to cover Bergerac, the Lot, the Languedoc, Cahors, Malbec, Petit Manseng, Tannat and Côtes de Gascogne. It's a fair bit of ground to cover in one evening, so you'll get a look at a good range of grapes and regions rather than just one corner of the country.
Each half includes at least six locally sourced wines, so you're tasting twelve or more across the night. You'll also get full tasting notes and a tasting sheet to keep track of what you're drinking, and professional tasting glasses are provided on the night.
